CARU Speaking at Women in Children's Media Event

CARU's Senior Legal Associate, Tina Poturica-O'Neill will be speaking this evening at a Women in Children's Media Event entitled, Talking Tech: Social Media for Teens . CARU Determines Advertising and Packaging for Skechers' Toning Shoes for Girls to be Misleading. Featured in Ad Age.

CARU recently closed a case concerning Skechers' toning shoes for girls. This case came right on the heels of the FTC's $40 million settlement over deceptive advertising claims by the company. CARU determined that advertising and packaging for the girls' toning shoes was misleading and implied that the shoes would make the owner more popular and fit. CARU Speaks at ACI's Food & Beverage Marketing & Advertising

CARU's Associate Director, Phyllis Spaeth  spoke at ACI's Food and Beverage Marketing & Advertising Conference on Monday, March 19th at the Westin in Washington DC. She was joined by Attorney-at-Law, Sabrina Simon and ConAgra Foods, Inc.'s Senior Counsel, Legal & Government Affairs, Suzanne Catanzaro on the panel.  Their panel was entitled, "Ensuring a Compliant Marketing and Advertising Campaign for Children Post-Reform: Preventing Costly Product Packaging and Advertising Mishaps." CARU to Speak at ACI's Advertising and Marketing Conference

Senior Staff Attorney, Angela Tiffin will be speaking at the American Conference Institute's (ACI) Advertising Law conference on January 23rd and January 24th. The conference will address the industry and how to ensure that your company remains competitive and compliant. In addition to CARU other leaders like the FTC and the California Office of Consumer Privacy will speak on how to successfully implement privacy protocols as part of advertising strategies. CARU Speaks at the New York City Bar Association's Consumer Affairs Committee

Andra Dallas will be addressing the Consumer Affairs Committee of the New York City Bar Association on January 11, 2012. She will be educating them about CARU and updating them on its recent cases. The Consumer Affairs Committee of the New York City Bar Association addresses current consumer protection issues on the national, state and local levels. Recent topics include consumer credit and debt, the new Consumer Financial Protection Board, updates on consumer protection legislation and reform on the state and local levels, privacy, and advertising and marketing law. The committee often collaborates with other City Bar committees, particularly in opining on state and local legislative issues and organizing programs.
